Today was a great day!! We met with the pastor who was responsible to give us a referral to begin the adoption process of an orphan from Haiti. Our visit was amazing with great fellowship and when it was all done he gave us his blessing. Praise God! And, he didn’t even pull out a white glove to check for dust! We are now waiting to receive the paperwork to fill out to be sent along with our fingerprints to complete a file which will be sent over to the orphanage the church is affiliated with. I took care of my fingerprints today down at the police station and Trey will be going tomorrow. In the event the orphans are released from Haiti (which that is our deepest prayer right now…more on that later), then our family will hopefully be matched with the child God has ordained to place in our family. We will then be able to finalize the adoption either through a local agency or CPS. I am in awe right now of God’s mighty hand moving in this. Honestly, I had allowed fear and worry to seep in over these last few days. Worrying about everything from how we would manage this financially to whether we would fit the criteria to proceed. I thought, surely, the door would be closed in some way to exclude us. I know that worry is all an emotional waste of time because God is in control. But somehow, when we are in the midst of life’s situations, it is really hard to fight against the temptation to allow consuming worry. If in fact the door would have closed, we would have been disappointed, but ultimately would have accepted this as God’s good, pleasing and perfect will and moved on to other adoption methods. I just so badly didn’t want God to say no to this. Thank you Lord!! You have left us filled with hope and now we press in hard bursting with faith and trust.
Now, back to the details of what we are laying at the feet of Jesus. We are asking God for something HUGE! We are trusting Him to bring one of the fatherless into our family and somehow use the love we will pour into this child as His way of rescuing this child and bringing them to eternal life.
In light of our plea for God to deliver the Haitian Orphans from Haiti, the Israelites exodus from Egypt has struck my heart with a deeper understanding of God’s faithfulness and love to deliver His people. So, if you like, you can follow my prayer for the exodus of the Haitian Orphans, in faith, believing that just as God was big enough to deliver the Israelites out of Egypt, He can likewise defend and rescue the Haitian Orphans.
Lord, we know the Haitian government will not let the orphans go unless your mighty hand compels them. So stretch out your mighty hand and defend these helpless orphans.(Exo.4:19-20) Say to the Haitian authorities, “Let my people go, so that they may worship me.”(Exo. 8:1) Show these beloved orphans there is no need to be afraid. May they soon see the deliverance you, Lord, will bring to them. May the Haitian government restricting the release of these children and all the “red tape” associated with this process we see today never be seen again. Lord, fight for them.(Exo.14:13-14) Divide the “red tape” of the Haitian government to allow your orphans to come through in safety, just as you parted the Red Sea for the Israelites escape.(Exo.14:21-22) Lord, may the Haitian authorities see that you are fighting for the orphans, and let them go.(Exo. 14:25) May the whole world see Your great power through this, Lord, and turn to you, fear you and put their trust in you.(Exo. 14:31) We know the Lord is the helper of the orphans (Psalm 10:14). Help them now, Lord. In the Name of Jesus, Amen!
